Book Bloger Hop! (March 11, 2011)

Happy Hop Day!  :)

Book Blogger HopIf you haven't seen the Book Blogger Hop or participated in it before, it's basically just an online party where book bloggers (and others interested in books) can visit various book blogs and check out what's going on with everyone else.  You just click the logo to the left and visit the links on Jen's list.  Each week we have a question to answer that helps us get to know one another better as we hop.

This week's question comes from Ellie who blogs at Musings of a Bookshop Girl:

"If I gave you £50 (or $80) and sent you into a bookshop right now, what would be in your basket when you finally staggered to the till?"

Wow.  That's a fun one!  Well, I spent around $50 last night at Books Inc, but I guess let's assume it's a new shopping day with a fresh $80.  I actually try not to buy a lot of books and use my library a TON, but let's see...I think I already have most of the books I want....well, those that have been published anyway.  :)  There are a lot more I'd want if we wait a few months.

In reality, if you gave me $80 today and sent me into a bookshop, I'd likely spend an hour or so browsing and come out with some cute blank books (I love to write stuff - though no actual full "books" yet), and I'd probably buy some books for my girls.  They LOVE Mo Willems' pigeon books!  My 7-year-old also loves the Lucy books by Ilene Cooper.  I bought her Lucy on the Ball last night.  So I'd likely find a few cute things on the 3rd-4th grade shelves w/animals factoring heavily in the stories.

I'd also probably spend some time perusing the middle-grade and YA shelves - I can never resist! - but I really don't know if I'd buy anything...maybe a gift certificate so I'll be set for when those sequels come out this year!  :)  SO many good books to look forward to!

What about you?

And I love, love bland notebooks. This is, I never finish them and just keep buying new ones. I have a pile of half-full notebooks on my desk haha.

  8. Wow! What a great question this week. I always peek at other people's book piles at the checkout link at B&N. That doesn't make me a voyeur, does it?

The exhibitionist in me has posted my own bookstore shopping list -- and it's not as predictable as you may think!

  10. I love the idea of buying blank books for writing. Can never have too many of those! It's wonderful to have something at your side to write down thoughts, dreams, and ideas. :-)

  11. I love how you answered the question! I love blank books to, I usually end up writing lists and short reminders to myself, but I love having them around. Sometimes I find old ones, and it makes me remember what I was doing and thinking about at that time in my life. I like that.

  12. Hi! Just stopping by on the Hop. Old follower here.
I do that too! Whenever I go to the bookstore I usually end up spending at least 1-2 hrs browsing before picking up any books...its usually an all day affair for me.
    Have a great weekend :)
